In the late 1980s and early 1990s, the genre of dramatic song lyric poetry featured lyrics that featured powerful images of the singer’s life or death.

    One of the most famous was “Aoba,” written by former Beatles singer Pete Townshend in 1987.

    “I’ve never seen a song like this,” he wrote.

    “I’ll never forget the way Pete wrote it.

    It was a beautiful thing.”
